501	Fergus Mor, King of Dál Riada, moves to Dunadd in Kintyre. He dies in the same year and Domangart rules. Fergus mac Conal dies; his son Setna rules in Tir Conal.
504	Muiredach mac Eogan dies; his son Muirchertach rules in Tir Eogan.
505	Mendoc d.o. Dungual, King of Strathclyde, marries Brychan of Manau. Eliffer rules in Eborac on the death of his father, Einion map Mor.
507	Domangart dies and his son Comgall rules Dál Riada.
508	Dungual of Strathclyde dies and is succeeded by his son, Clinoch. Prince Maelgwn map Cadwallan of Gwynedd has an illegitimate son, Rhun.
510	Tudwal map Clinoch is born in Strathclyde. Cairell is born in Dál Fiatach.
514	Cadwallan Lawhir dies and his brother, Owain of Rhos, rules Gwynedd.
517	Maelgwn murders Owein and seizes the throne of Gwynedd. Cynglas map Owain takes the throne of Rhos and resists Maelgwn’s attempt to rule both.
520	Tudwal map Cinuit, the liege-king of Galloway, dies. His son Dingat rules.
521	Colum Cille (L. Columba), the great-great-grandson of Niall of the Nine Hostages, is born in Donegal. Cynglas map Owain of Rhos dies and his brother Einion rules.
523	Fiachna Lonn of the Dál nAraide dies. Eochaid mac Condla rules.
525	Gabhran mac Domangart weds Lluan of Manau and claims Gowrie for Dál Riada. Setna mac Fergus dies; his son Ainmere rules in Tir Conal.
525	King Pabo abdicates the throne of the Pennines and splits the realm between his sons – Dunod rules in the north, and Sawyl takes The Peak.
526	Muiredach dies and his son, Eochaid, rules Dál Fiatach. Nesta d.o. Sawyl, marries Maelgwn of Gwynedd and bears him a legitimate daughter, Eurgain. Bran map Dyfnwal dies and Cuncar rules in Bryneich.
527	Aedan mac Gabhran is born in Dunadd, Kintyre. Masgwid map Gwrast dies and the throne of Elmet passes to his son Llenawg.
530	Prince Tudwal tries to oust the Christian monastery at Whithorn in Galloway.
531	Maelgwn annuls the marriage to his unfaithful wife, Nesta; he weds his 3rd cousin, Idelle, d.o. Talorc II, King of Picts. Meirchion map Gwrast dies and his son, Cynfarch, rules in Rheged.
532	Bridei map Maelgwn is born in Gwynedd; he is known to the Picts as Brude mac Maelchon. The monks of Whithorn ask for help from Cynfarch of Rheged.
534	Muirchertach is murdered; his sons Forggus and Domnall jointly rule Tir Eogan.
536	A 10 year plague and famine begins. Thousands die. Dingat, the king of Galloway dies and his son Senyllt now becomes king in liege to Clinoch.
538	Comgall abdicates the throne of Dál Riada; his brother Gabhran rules.
540	Clinoch of Strathclyde dies; his eldest son, Tudwal, succeeds – he steps up the persecution of the Christians. Eliffer dies and his son, Peredur, rules in Eborac.
540	Eochaid mac Muiredach dies and his brother, Cairell, becomes King of Dál Fiatach. Llenawg dies and his son, Arthwys, rules in Elmet.
541	The monk Gildas writes “De Excidio Britanniae”. Tudwal’s uncle, Cynbelin map Dungual, takes the throne of Gododdin in liege to Strathclyde.
542	Cairell of Dál Fiatach invades Ynys Manann. Eurgain, d.o. Maelgwn, marries Prince Elidyr of Strathclyde. Ceido and his son, Gwenddoleu, invade Salway. Einion map Owain dies in Rhos and his throne passes to his son Beli.
544	Blaan is born, the illegitimate child of Prince Aedan and his 1st cousin, Ertha, d.o. Comgall. Bubonic plague strikes Ireland.
545	Aedan weds Princess Gwenfron, d.o. Tudwal, King of Strathclyde.
546	Artur mac Aedan born. Cælin son of Wilfrid is born in Bryneich.
547	The Angles under Ida overrun Bryneich (renamed Bernicia). King Cuncar is killed and his son, Morcant Bulc, flees to Gefrin. Eochaid Find mac Aedan is born.
548	Maithgemma, d.o. Aedan, born in Manau.
549	Maelgwn of Gwynedd dies of the plague. Rhun, an illegitimate son, rules, but he is opposed by the House of Rhos who support the claim of his daughter, Eurgain. Domangart Mac Aedan is born.
550	Cynfarch Oer, King of Rheged, dies. Urien now rules and immediately invades Galloway to support the Christian mission.
550	Gwallog, a Prince of Elmet, annexes The Peak, and Sawyl flees to Powys.
551	Conan (Conaing) mac Aedan is born. Relapsing fever in Ireland. Eoachaid mac Condla of the Dál nAraide dies; Aed Brecc rules.
552	King Drust V of the Picts dies leaving a vacant crown. Bridei map Maelgwn of Gwynedd (g’son of Talorc II) rushes north to wed Drust’s daughter, Tristana, his 2nd cousin. Bran mac Aedan is born.
553	Bridei (Brude) is invited to share the throne of Pictland with Galam Cennaleph. Prince Riderch allows a monastery to be founded at Glasgu in Strathclyde.
554	Brude deposes Galam who retires to rule the Orcades, but leaves family as hostages.
554	The pagan King Tudwal of Strathclyde dies and his Christian son Riderch rules.
556	Ceido dies; his son, Gwenddoleu, rules Salway. He attempts to conquer the neighbouring province of Catraeth, but fails.
558	Cynbelin of Gododdin dies and his son Clydno rules. Brude defeats Gabhran at the Battle of Gowrie.
558	The Dalriadans are expelled from Gowrie and, soon after, Gabhran dies. His nephew, Conall mac Comgall, rules Dál Riada.
559	King Ida of Bernicia dies and his brother Glappa takes the throne.
560	Prince Elidyr, husband of Eurgain, invades Gwynedd to support his wife’s claim to the throne. Rhun prevails and Elidyr is killed at the battle of Cadnant Brook.
	The Anglian chieftain Ælle seizes Deifr (renamed Deira). Conall annexes Cowal from Strathclyde and shifts his capital from Dunadd to Delgon on the Isle of Gigha.
	King Glappa of Bernicia dies after a brief reign; his nephew, Adda son of Ida takes the throne.
563	Under pressure from the Ui Neills of Ireland, Conall grants Iona to Colum Cille (Columba), for a monastery.
564	Arthwys map Masgwid dies and his nephew, Gwallog map Llenawg, rules in Elmet. Great gales across the country.
565	Columba travels to Brude’s stronghold at Craig Phadraig. Riderch of Strathclyde attacks Gwynedd by sea to avenge the death of his cousin Elidyr, but is forced to retreat.
565	Eocho Bude mac Aedan is born. Maithgemma weds Cairell of Dál Fiatach in a dynastic marriage.
566	Rhun counter-invades but fails. Cairell invades Arran and is killed; his son Deman rules in Dál Fiatach. Molaise is born to Maithgemma. Forggus and Domnall are slain at the River Liffey; their brother Baetan rules in Tir Eogan. Ainmere mac Setna is slain by Fergus mac Nellin; his son Aed rules in Tir Conal.
567	Conall of Dál Riada raids the Orcades. Maithgemma returns to Dunadd with Molaise.
568	Conall and Coleman Bec of Meath campaign in Islay and Seil to quell a rebellion by the House of Lorne. King Adda of Bernicia dies; his brother Æthelric rules.
569	Rhun’s support in Gwynedd dwindles and he flees; Beli map Einion of Rhos rules. Aed Brecc of Dál nAraide dies and Baetan Caech rules. Eochaid mac Domnall shares the throne of Tir Eogan with Baetan.
569	Prince Aedan becomes the mormaer of Manau and makes Aberfoyle his capital. Senyllt of Galloway dies and is followed by his son, Neithon.
570	The monk Gildas dies. King Urien leads Rheged, Strathclyde, Bryneich and Elmet against the Angles. Æthelfrith born at Din Guardi.
570	The Britons under Urien defeat Æthelric at the Battle of the Berwyn Cells near the headwaters of the River Wear. Rhun is murdered by Cynan of Powys.
572	Deman dies; Baetan rules Dál Fiatach. Æthelric of Bernicia dies and his brother, Theodric, reigns. Baetan and Domnall are slain by Cronan mac Tigernaig; Colman Rimid rules in Tir Eogan.
573	Peredur & Gwrgi of Eborac, with Dunod of the Pennines, invade Salway and defeat Gwenddoleu at the battle of Arderydd. Urien annexes Salway and Catraeth. Urien anoints his brother, Arawn, as Lord of Salway.
574	King Conall dies; Baetan invades the Isle of Gigha and Duncan, Conall’s heir, is killed at the Battle of Delgon (Teloch). Baetan lands on Kintyre with a large force.
574	Aedan swiftly returns from Manau and defeats Baetan. Aedan is crowned King of Dál Riada by Columba at Dunadd, bypassing his older brother, Eogan.
575	Urien and his coalition defeat Theodric’s forces at the battle of Gwen Ystrad in Catraeth, on the upper reaches of the River Ure.
576	Smallpox strikes the land. Great crops of nuts.
577	Baetan invades Ynys Manann to outflank Dalriadan naval supremacy and control the Hibernian Sea. King Clydno dies and his brother Mynyddog rules Gododdin.
579	Prince Owein of Rheged defeats Theodric at the battle of Argoed on the River Llwyfenydd. The Britons were trying to save Eborac from Anglian invasion.
579	On Theodric’s death, his younger brother, Frithuwald, became king of Bernicia.
580	Baetan re-invades Ynys Manann, killing Neithon of Galloway and driving out the Britons. King Beli of the re-united Gwynedd dies and is followed by his son, Iago.
580	Peredur & Gwrgi are killed at battle of Caer Greu on the River Tyne, and Ælle of Deira conquers Eborac. This is the first major loss for the Britons in 20 years and the tide has now turned in favour of the Angles.
